Our Transportation Group has provided services to major projects in Ireland over the last 20 years including over 400km of motorways with a construction value in excess of €2.3 billion. We have extensive experience of bringing projects through all stages from constraints studies to final design and completion of construction.

The Transportation Group has provided design services to some of Europe’s largest design-build contractors and to PPP consortia for national road design-build and PPP contracts in Ireland.

We provide traffic and transportation engineering services, including planning, design and construction supervision for both local authorities and to commercial clients and have expertise in the preparation of transportation models.

We are heavily involved in the design and planning of improvements for public transport and cycle and pedestrian facilities including the provision of bus lanes, the preparation of transportation master plans and other projects focused on non-car based travel modes.

Our Rail team has been extensively engaged in projects under the Irish Government’s Transport 21 Programme to enhance Ireland’s public transportation networks. We are a principal consultant to Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) and have also undertaken significant projects for the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA).

We are the leading consultant in the development of design standards for roads in Ireland and is currently updating the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) for the Irish National Roads Authority and the Traffic Signs Manual for the Department of Transport. As a result of our work in this area we provide a range of advisory services to both public and private sector asset managers to assist them in optimising the operation and management of their networks.

We have worked with the NRA and their legal advisors in producing new contract forms including the development of the NRA FIDIC based conditions of contract for design-build contracts and the NRA generic Works Requirements for Contracts. In addition, we have provided training courses in conjunction with A&L Goodbody Solicitors to public bodies on the Irish Government’s Public Works Contracts.
