Environmental planning

Roughan & O’Donovans' environmental planning team has undertaken the full spectrum of environmental planning services including the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs) and Appropriate Assessments (AAs) for local authorities, government agencies and private clients. While the majority of our experience has been in relation to major infrastructure projects, we have also successfully prepared assessments and achieved planning approval for developers.

Increasingly we are supporting local authority clients in the planning process on projects where they are undertaking the design themselves.

We are fully familiar with the planning requirements in both the Republic and under UK legislation in Northern Ireland, where we have undertaken a number of projects. Schemes where Roughan & O’Donovan has provided planning services range from the iconic Boyne Bridge, where we prepared the first ever stand-alone EIS for a bridge project in Ireland, through major roads projects with values in excess of €300 million, bridges, public, commercial and industrial buildings, major site developments and tourism developments such as a tall tower, cable-car scheme proposed for central Dublin.
